My name is Katrin Baghdasarian and I am from Armenia. I always had a passion for hair growing up. I began my first training there when I was sixteen years old. I knew I had to enroll myself into beauty school quickly after graduating high school when I came back home to Georgia. I looked into a few different schools in Atlanta but they were all too expensive and had very strict schedules.
I was looking for something part time as I was already waiting tables at two different restaurants. I decided to enroll into online school for Beauty Care for the time being and save up for Cosmetology school. I was studying for a test during one of my shifts and a co-workers told me about her friend who attended MAK Beauty Institute. I got very excited and called the school right away and scheduled a tour!
I signed up and started school the following month in February 2013. I went to school six days a week while working in the evenings and graduated in nine months. It took a lot of hard work, goal setting and motivation. The best thing about MAK is that they were very flexible with me and the payment plans really helped.
The owner, Tatyana, really pushed me and I always appreciated that about her because she truly cared for all of her students progress. I was placed in a salon right before my graduation date in October 2014. I worked for six months and then went on to open up my own salon suite in April 2014. It has been three years since I started my own business doing what I love and I was ready to give back! I enrolled back at MAK Beauty Institute’s new location in Duluth to get my Master Cosmetology Instructor License. I truly enjoy being behind the chair and teaching what I love!
